Since Houston Pavilions opening more than 41.97 tons of cardboard and 8.45 tons of glass/tin/bottles has been recycled.

Houston Pavilions’ recycling and conservation efforts have saved:

836 MATURE TREES
That’s enough saved timber resources to produce more than 10,345,650 sheets of newspaper.

231,321 KW-HRS OF ELECTRICITY
That’s enough power to fulfill the annual electricity needs of more than 19 homes.

212 CUBIC YARDS OF LANDFILL AIRSPACE
That’s enough airspace to fulfill the municipal waste disposal needs for 270 Americans for one year.

22,804 GALLONS OF OIL
That’s enough energy to heat and cool 112 homes for one year.

1,180 GALLONS OF GASOLINE
That’s enough gasoline for Americans to drive more than 33,040 miles.

344,190 GALLONS OF WATER
That’s enough fresh water to meet the daily fresh water needs of 152 Americans.

Each ton of fiber recycled conserves: 17 mature trees; 463 gallons of oil; 24 gallons of gasoline; 4,200 kw-hrs of electricity; 7,000 gallons of water; 3.5 cubic yards of landfill airspace. Sources: U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries, and Waste Management
